This year’s IPL has started yesterday, and it must be said that right from the beginning victory of the Chennai Super Kings and Dhoni’s unusually interesting beard, the IPL has got us entertained in a fascinating way. Now, it kind of started going ahead with today’s match held between Delhi Captains and Kings XI Punjab after the match got tied with Chris Jordan walking out of the pavilion.
Post the super over, the results are out and the Delhi Capitals beat Kings XI Punjab in Super Over to get off to a fine start in IPL 2020 in Dubai. The DC vs KXIP match went into Super Over after two teams finished with identical scores of 157 for 8. Mayank Agarwal scored 89 off 60 balls but could not finish it. Marcus Stoinis picked up two wickets off the last two balls to push the match into super over.
While Rabada dismissed Glenn Maxwell after R Ashwin got two wickets in one over and then walked off the field with an injury in the same as DC ran through KXIP top-order.
On the other hand, Mohit Sharma got the first breakthrough for DC by cleaning up KXIP captain KL Rahul after he and Mayank Agarwal got off to a solid start in the run-chase. Marcus Stoinis hit a flurry of boundaries towards the end, scoring 53 off 21 balls to power Delhi Capitals to 157 for 8 after being sent in to bat first by the Kings XI Punjab team.
Putting the game to end, Rishabh Pant and Iyer had come together with a good stand after Mohammed Shami struck twice in one over but they too were dismissed in quick succession. It was Stoinis who then took matters in his own hands smashing everything out of the park to DC to a very good score, which once looked way out of their proximity. Twitterati went crazy congratulating the teams, for the interesting game. Check out the interesting tweets here:
